Amy Blair, Founder & CEO

Amy founded Batik Boutique in 2013 with a vision to provide sustainable skills training and jobs to women in Malaysia. Prior to starting Batik Boutique, Amy worked in tourism, serving as a consultant to several international businesses. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Texas A&M University. When she's not dreaming up new products and partnerships, Amy spends her free time with her husband and three children exploring the beautiful region of southeast Asia and drinking artisan coffees. 

 

Ryan Blair, Director of Development

Ryan's degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University and his Masters in Business Administration serve him well as he overseas strategic partnerships and operations.  He is also our resident expert in indigo dyeing. When not working, Ryan can be found exploring with his two sons, pampering his daughter, and enjoying life with his wife, Amy.

 

Azizan Sallehhuddin, Office Manager

Azizan is responsible to ensure the smooth running of the office administration, ensuring procedures and protocols are executed. She has 11 years of experience in administration management in various industries and carried a Higher Diploma in Information Technology. She is fond of fashion and finds it inspiring. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband and three daughters. 

 


Kylin Kwan, Production Manager

Kylin studied Fashion and Textile Merchandising at RMIT University, Melbourne. She is responsible for ensuring quality and timely production across our collections. She loves training our seamstresses on new techniques and is constantly scheming up ways to hire and train more women. When she's not perfecting production, Kylin can be found exploring the city with her dog, Chow Min, or dreaming up travel plans.

 

Serena Lim, Production Specialist

Serena carries a Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology from Vancouver, Canada. Her role is to train and assist beneficiaries with their sewing and pattern-making skills, and she oversees our sewing center operations. Malaysia is home for her, and she hopes to continue growing and empowering artisans here in the years to come.

 


Pallavi Shinghal, Textile Specialist

Pallavi studied fashion in India and brings in rich experience working with colors and fabric. She conducts classes for Batik and Shibori and assists in production. Outside of work hours, nothing gives her more joy than spending time with her family and friends. She also tries to make time for reading and fitness activities.

 


Syira Junaidi, Administration Specialist

Syira studied Psychology and Business Administration at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She keeps track of sales, inventory and expenses, as well as assisting in new ventures for the company. She loves to tell people about batik and the beneficiaries, and getting to know our customers. When not keeping our studio in check, she can be found exploring second-hand bookstores or window-shopping for a good bargain.

 

 

Molly Way, Marketing Communications Strategist

Molly joined Batik Boutique as a consultant in Marketing Communications. Her degree from Texas A&M University in Marketing, and experience in communications bring her expertise in managing our social media accounts, creating content for marketing campaigns, and consulting on brand awareness projects. When not taking pictures for our Instagram or hanging out with the team at the studio, Molly enjoys traveling with her husband and watching interior design shows.

 

Gillian Henry, International Fellow

Gillian joined Batik Boutique as a Minerva Fellow through her alma mater, Union College. Through this fellowship, she is gaining the unique opportunity to experience the workings of a social enterprise firsthand. Having studied Political Science and Women & Gender Studies while working at Union’s Costume Shop for four years, working at Batik Boutique joins all of her passions and skills. Gillian also enjoys yoga and looks forward to exploring her way through Southeast Asia.
